Safety committees and representatives play a vital role in preventing work-related injuries and illnesses and are an important part of the Internal Responsibility System.
Safety committee members and representatives provide an opportunity for their co-workers to express safety concerns in their workplace and have them addressed. Depending on the size of your workplace, this role is filled by a Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee or a Health and Safety Representative.
A Joint Occupational Health and Safety (JOHS) Committee is a group of worker and employer representatives who work together to address health and safety issues in their workplace. If your workplace employs 20 or more workers, the law on Prince Edward Island says that a committee must be established.

Health & Safety Representatives
