As the employer of an injured worker, you play an important role in the WCB claim process.
To make a decision on your worker's claim, the WCB requires:
You will be informed about all claim decisions in writing. If the claim is accepted, your worker may be eligible for benefits and services, and the return to work process will begin.
If you do not agree with a decision made on your worker's claim, you have the right to request reconsideration within 90 days from the date of notification.
If an injury causes your worker to lose time from work, the claim will be transferred to the WCB case management team. This team will work with you, your worker, and your worker's health care providers to help them return to work.

The Claim Process

- An Employer's Report from you.
- A Worker's Report from your worker.
- Medical information from a direct access health care provider.

The Employer's Role in the Claim Process
If one of your workers experiences a work-related injury or illness, you are responsible for:- Reporting the injury within three days from the date of the injury.
- Contacting your worker as soon as possible following the injury and maintaining weekly communication throughout your worker's recovery.
- Actively participating in the worker's plan for a timely and safe return to work.
- Making every reasonable effort to provide suitable work that is safe, within the worker's physical capabilities, and at your worker's pre-injury level of earnings.
- Keeping the WCB informed of your worker's return to work plan and progress.
- Your worker's name.
- The date of injury.
- The WCB case worker's name and phone number.
- The claim number.
